Bill Anderson grew up in the small town of Montezuma, IA and from a young age, always worked hard and had a knack for business. Consistently helping out at his family’s clothing store after school, Bill began to learn the ropes and develop his eye for helping the customer. In 1969, Bill purchased Roosevelt Bootery, an established shoe store in Des Moines. After opening four more stores around the Des Moines metro, Bill quickly learned the importance of on-hand inventory. After looking around the Des Moines area for a place to warehouse inventory, Bill eventually came upon a piece of ground just off Douglas Avenue and 100th Street in Urbandale.
At this location Bill would build his first of many office / warehouse projects as his need for this type of space was echoed by many other local, regional and national companies. With many years of self and family sacrifice this vast industry need propelled Bill’s journey into what is now a 1.5 million square feet over 30 plus property endeavor named Anderson Properties. Though Bill has passed on, his legacy and knowledge of business lives on in his children and grandchildren to this day.
